On my ever enduring search for my favorite fashion era (and time period in general), I often waffle between 5 or 6 general time periods. I guess it really depends on my mood of the day. Like today I am decked out in my cute floral Anthropologie sun dress that looks like I went rummaging through Betty Draper's closet. Add a top knot, a dainty head band, vintage pumps and one might mistake me for a 50's housewife venturing into the city for lunch and shopping with the ladies. Even with me oozing Mad Men, I always seem to come back to one particularly intriguing era... The racy and rebellious 20's and even more so the Flapper. Carried away by the amazing photos I started finding, I kept digging and seeing more and more nods to this fabulous era in modern day fashion. One particular thing I ADORE about the Flapper, besides her amazing carefree attitude, is the headgear! Where has our keen sense to accessorize as a fashionable society gone! Well I think we should bring it back. I mean look how effortlessly cool she looks in her turban.... We could pull it off right?
It actually made me think of a post on Style.com I saw yesterday where JakandJil photoblogger Tommy Ton recalls his top trends off the runway from the Fall 2010 Fashion Weeks. Even though he is praising this woman for her camel coat (which I must admit is a trend I am so in to!) I couldn't take my eyes off her brightly colored turban. This is such a fabulously glamorous photo, it makes me want to tie a scarf around my head for any type of occasion. Too much for the gym??? This IS New York, anything goes...I am also loving these other shots of fabulous Flappers rocking there amazing headgear style.

And how freaking amazing are these boots! This makes me want to troll every possible vintage store on the East Coast to find them.

I am loving this adorable bob and thick headband combo, pristine skin and a dark lip. So chic even in this era.
Also check out us channeling our inner 20s Gatsby at Monica's Birthday celebration last year. I wore a vintage one shoulder dress which I think looks very Vionnett. (OMG I wish it was the real thing!)
Until next time... Another day, another era. Have fun finding yours today.
